Creativity comes naturally to me, it's a skill I was born with and one I've been honing all my life.
Currently, I find my greatest joy in graphic arts. I am experienced with Illustrator and other non subscription based vector programs that allow me to create beautiful invitations, posters, logos, menus and more. My graphic arts experience extends into the field of construction as well. I enjoy and have training in basic drafting with AutoCAD and 3D rendering with Google SketchUp.
Away from the computer I am quite skilled with my hands. I have been known to sew clothing and gift items, and embroider Coffee Cozy's and Christmas ornaments. I occasionally create wire jewelry and trinkets from wine corks, acorns, spark plugs, or whatever inspires me. I do vinyl lettering, glass etching and often create custom glass etched gifts as mementos.
With the help of my father, some power tools, and the muscle my other half brings to the table I have also created some very cool things with wood. My other half and I have a vaulted ceiling in our home which makes for a very tall and very large wall in our living room. I designed and (with the help of my dad) built an incredible set of honeycomb/hexagon shelves that help to tie the large wall into the rest of the space while showcasing some of our more ‘whimsical’ items. As I’m writing this my most recent project was converting the accent wall in our bedroom. The details of the process will be on the website at some point -or you can email me if you want the specifics- long story short I converted the faux bois (fake woodgrain) panels in our bedroom into 3 beautiful wood panels that now flank the accent wall in our bedroom, and I created them from inexpensive dog-eared fence pickets.
I am a baker at heart! Growing up my mother was an incredible cook and baker; her skills rubbed off on me. I find the most fun to be in decorating cut out sugar cookies. In 2016 I was approached by my better half’s mother to help her with a dessert for her other son’s Groom’s Dinner and we decided on iced cut-out sugar cookies. Little did she realize it at the time, but she created a monster! I thoroughly enjoy baking and decorating sugar cookies for holidays and events. My favorite cookies are Holiday cookies, but I bake and decorate all year long for any occasion that inspires or hires me. Not only was it baking, but my mother also got me interested in cake decorating years ago when she took a cake decorating class. Watching her decorate cakes was like going to school for me. Whether she realized it or not I was taking mental notes which I still use while decorating cakes, cupcakes or cookies.
Above all of the creativity though I am a 2010 graduate of the Interior Design program at North Dakota State University. My schooling has only increased my love for creativity and enhanced my ability to see design and beauty in everything. You may have seen the photos of flowers in the gallery already. While in school I attended a Floral Arranging course and have been hooked on floral arranging and design ever since. I consider it an honor and a pleasure to have been invited to create the centerpieces and floral arrangements for quite a few events over the last few years.
I am a designer for hire and I offer free consultations if you have an idea but aren’t sure how to make it happen. I hope you enjoy the images of my creations and may they inspire you to get creative as well.
Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to check out the photos in the gallery.
